AU\TO\LUX.

i really could not have asked for a better show.

rebecca and i got there a little early and where accosted with "coupons" for "healthy" vodka. mine was fortified with vitaminB and hers was caffeinated. healthy. yes.

anyway, wooden shjips brought it pretty psychedelically. some of the bros around us we not too appreciative, but i think i was picking up what they were putting down. i guess at the end of the day, some people wont like your music. so it goes. so it motha fuckin goes.

after some crowd checkers, we got a pretty good spot on the right side near the subs (didnt quite get coronated... but not bad anyway). gotta say though, the henry fonda has some excellent bass. just fuzzes up my chest and rattles my ribs.

autolux. what can i say? ive been waiting 4 or 5 years to see them. somehow kept missing them. but honestly, im glad i waited. the old stuff still seemed fresh... but... the new stuff... the new stuff they played was revelatory. at least for me.

this is where i stop talking about the show.

hearing their new music was a bit of a wake-up call. ive been stuck in a rut with my music for quite some time. the problem was, i was trying to make "songs." i lost my passion for sound and texture - for experimentation. i forgot that you can spin something off of a fucked up bent-tuning and unholy self-eating fuzz (i know i already used that word, but this is my blog and i want to use it twice).

more than anything, thats what the show meant to me.

hope in pedal boards.
transcendence in feedback.
dreams in distortion.

("we're just up here moving molecules")

a truly unplanned encore. an actual intimate moment. i love these guys even more.
